It all started when…
In 2018, Alicia Walters received an idea…a way for Black communities to experiment with narratives that affirmed our humanity while nonBlack people could practice Centering Blackness in public. The Black Thought Project was born just six short months later, activating our first Black Thought Wall in Oakland, California. Four years, four cities and thousands of responses later, we are sharing what we’ve learned about Centering Blackness in public.
