Oakland, CA, USA

Since July 2019, the Black Thought Project has activated 8 Black Thought Walls in Oakland, CA . We have partnered with numerous community-based organizations, businesses and the City of Oakland to activate and protect spaces where Black people can engage in conversations about healing, safety, love, and visions for their own lives and that of our greater community. In every instance there is ritual, reverence, joy, reflection.

Special thanks to the Black Cultural Zone, Roots Community Clinic, Brotherhood of Elders, Sobrante Park Resident Advisory Council, 40x40 Initiative, Alena Museum, Betti Ono Gallery, Oakland Museum of California, City of Oakland Reimagining Safety Task Force, Kingston 11 Cuisine, and the many volunteers and residents who stepped up to protect, witness and honor each other in our vulnerability and visions.
